The best ideas start with lots of bad ideas
If you need one great idea, start with lots of awful ones. Jump in now. Embrace the cliches, the silly stuff and the derivative drivel. Just don’t settle for any of that. Keep looking for something magic. Write everything down and keep going. Keep looking for something magic. The point is to engage your creativity and build momentum. Eventually something original and interesting will emerge.
The alternative? Maybe put off the work because the goal is so intimidating. Then wait around all day for the big idea to appear. And try again tomorrow with a greater sense of desperation.
Sounds wrong, though, doesn’t it? Generating a lot of bad ideas seems like an obvious waste of time. But it isn’t. Try starting there.
