Red Deluxe, Archer>Malmo earn top honors for excellence

Archer>malmo racked up the most wins Saturday night at this year’s Memphis Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards ceremony, but Best of Show went once again to Red Deluxe, which last year rode gold all the way to the national level.
The awards gala Downtown at Bridges Inc. featured the city’s largest advertising agency, archer>malmo, winning 14 Gold ADDYs, 20 Silver ADDYs, the Special Award for Design for Pirouline’s Pirouline Box, Special Award for Illustration for Conwood’s Snakes, Special Award for Direct Mail for Kraft Food Ingredients Co.’s KFIC Grill Flavors and the Award for Outstanding Photography for Valent USA/Valor Herbicide’s Defend Your Territory. Red Deluxe won seven Gold ADDYs and seven Silver ADDYs. It took home Best of Show for its Henry Turley Realtors’ Lofts Campaign.
Meanwhile, inferno brought home the most Gold ADDYs, scoring 22 Gold and three Silver. Best of Electronic went to inferno for Primacy Relocation’s The Primacy Difference.
The ADDY awards recognize creative excellence among the local advertising community. About 20 Mid-South advertising firms and departments submitted more than 870 entries this year. Judges awarded 94 Gold ADDY awards and 81 Silver awards in 16 categories. “We bring in judges from some of the top advertising agencies in the country each year to review the Mid-South’s ADDY entries,” ADDY chairman James Atkinson said. “They were very impressed with the work coming out of Memphis this year.”
Other Special and Best of awards went to:
Tactical Magic for Memphis Car Audio’s iPod Name Badge (Interactive). Thompson & Co. for Chandler Demolition’s Poster Campaign (Best of Print). Sossaman + Associates for Memphis in May’s Poster Campaign (Outstanding Art Direction) and for the University of Memphis Alumni Association’s True Blue (Outstanding Copywriting).
Other winners include:
• Thompson & Co. with 14 Gold ADDYs and 15 Silver.
• Tactical Magic with 10 Gold and six Silver.
• Combustion with fi ve Gold and nine Silver.
• Sossaman + Associates with eight Gold ADDYs and four Silver.
• Conaway Brown won one Gold ADDY and seven Silver.
• Oden Marketing and Design, four Gold and one Silver.
• Hope Presbyterian Church, one Gold and one Silver.
• SPEAK! Creative, one Gold ADDY and one Silver.
Winning one Gold apiece were: 1049 Productions; Lee & Stafford; Lunar Productions; Paradigm Productions and Patterson Graham Design Group. And winning one Silver apiece were: Hemline Creative Marketing; Baptist Memorial Health Care; MKB Marketing and Nokturnal Studio. Michael Guthrie of University of Memphis won a Silver Student ADDY for Porsche Club of America-Mid-South Region’s Porsche Club of America logo. Local ADDY winners move up to the district level with the potential of going to the national ADDY award competition.
