Memphis is making a name for itself as a regional center for advertising excellence. In the five-state regional ADDY competition this spring, Memphis agencies took home 10 gold awards, second only to Atlanta.

The American Advertising Federation conducts the competitions through its 200 advertising clubs nationwide.

The granddaddy of local winners is Carpenter Sullivan Sossaman with five golds and nine silvers for work with Holiday Deli & Ham, Bosco's and the Mid-South Fair. Other winners include Oden, Disciple Design, Tactical Magic, Red Deluxe, archer>malmo, Chung Design, RedRover Co. and Brian Casabella.

Students Cody Maple and Willis Porter each won silver awards. The Memphis winners will be recognized at the Ad Federation's monthly luncheon meeting Thursday at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn.
